Many people have dreamed of going on vacation to Costa Rica. The new Costa Rican legislation will turn the country into a dream destination for full-time digital nomads. Whether people work at home or not will remain a constant trend. As remote working has evolved, and the so-called digital nomads have become a significant part of economies all over the world, Costa Rica, given the law that exists, has a purpose in supporting long-stay visitors to the country and increasing the expenditure of foreign resources.
With the aim of attracting digital nomads, service providers of an international nature, the Costa Rican government signed a law under the leadership of Carlos Alvarado. This legislation will not only boost the tourism sector but also help revive the Costa Rican tourism sector: the law gives greater legal security and motivation for remote workers to work anywhere in Costa Rica.
“Work” and “well-being” are repeatedly mentioned in the special law for digital nomads in Costa Rica, both of which must be guaranteed for anyone who chooses to do their work from Costa Rica. Due to digital nomads, Costa Rica can benefit from greater investments, as well as greater employment opportunities. Nomads consume services, cover their food, travel anywhere they want and hire people to work for them.
Other benefits also exist

Those who have incomes above 2,500 euros will be allowed to stay in Costa Rica for up to one year with a visa that can be extended for an additional year. You must earn more than 4,300 euros if you are traveling with your family.
As long as the nomad meets the proportionality criteria that will be dictated by the National Customs Directorate of the Treasury, all the personal telecommunications or computer equipment that they use in their studies or jobs will be exempt from paying taxes.
There are 32 Tourism Development Centers in Costa Rica that have the conditions to receive and serve digital nomads, including, among other things, drivers’ licenses issued in the beneficiary’s country of origin that are valid.
The fact that more digital nomads are applying for visas has encouraged companies and organizations to continue investing despite the Covid-19 outbreak. Entertainment tourism is a trend that has been strengthened in all aspects, from its purchase, operation, and experiences that it offers in 2021, to a lot of technology in its operation.
Cities with the greatest attraction
An e-book by Netspick highlighting the most attractive cities for nomads was released this year. According to Forbes, one of the best places for digital nomads in the world is Costa Rica, one of the ten best.

I’m a real estate sales agent that believes in serving others. A long career as a healthcare director has provided me with vast experience in building trust and translating complicated problems into simple solutions. After marrying my wife Xinia, a Tica, over a decade ago I’ve traveled many times back and forth to Costa Rica and have fallen in love with the country and especially its people. My Linkedin profile says I’m an amateur philosopher and Costa Rica connector and I feel like that describes me very well. I strive to be a “reflective” searcher but also a real estate person who connects buyers and sellers of Costa Rican real estate in the most transparent manner in the country. This combination is what makes our team distinct from any other agency in Costa Rica.
